Message-ID: <1990Nov28.071624.8260@agate.berkeley.edu> Date: 28 Nov 90 07:16:24 GMT Sender: usenet@agate.berkeley.edu (USENET Administrator) Reply-To: grechen@tsunami.Berkeley.EDU (Grechen Darling) Distribution: na Organization: Madame Claude's Lines: 19 we've got a few nexts up and running at my local private college, but our sysadmin is a nazi and a mac addict. it's taken a year to get the next's connected to the vax, but the networking is pitiful. anyway. i have no trouble with telnet or rlogin out of the next to anywhere, including recognized hosts from the vax machine. but reaching the next is another story. no matter what i do, i doesn't seem to recognize my remote terminal. it logs in far enough to tell me i have mail, then hangs and disconnects. i've checked the terms on the next and played with tset, but i'm not a real hacker, so i'm lost. my brilliant sysadmin recommends looking up 'terminal' and 'shell' in the digital librarian. can anyone else be more helpful? please mail replies thanks grechen
