Message-ID: <1990Nov28.021706.25765@solo.csci.unt.edu> Date: 28 Nov 90 02:17:06 GMT Sender: Douglas Scott Reply-To: zardoz!doug%woof.columbia.edu Distribution: usa Organization: University of North Texas, Denton Lines: 38 Originator: doug@ponder.csci.unt.edu Here is the situation. I will be working, doing nothing special at all, perhaps typing in a Terminal or something. Suddenly I cannot type anything, cannot move the cursor using the mouse, nothing. The clock on the prefs icon continues to run. I cannot even get to the nmi using command-command-tilde. Nothing. The ONLY thing I can get to happen is the warning panel WILL pop up if I hit the power key, but I cannot either accept or cancel, since the keyboard wont respond otherwise, and the mouse is dead. I have to UNPLUG the machine and start from scratch (fscks and all...ugh!) Anybody else seen this? I am running OS 1.0a with 330 Mb drive and 12mb RAM. Oh yes...there are NO messages anywhere concerning the problem after I come back up. Also, if I try to restart too soon, reboot fails in the "Testing System" panel! Am I overheating? The cube sits on a wood floor with plenty of room to breathe. Thanks for any suggestions!! Please reply via email...I cannot log in to the news machine every day. P.S. It only happened for a period of a week or two, and then stopped... but who knows when it might happen again? Thanks!! -- ___________________________________________________________________________ Douglas Scott zardoz!doug%woof.columbia.edu
