As part of this process, we also upgraded from SunOS 4.0.3 to SunOS 4.1. On most (but not all) occasions that we exit SunView, the system chokes and goes into an automatic reboot. When we added more RAM (upgraded the 4/330 board from 1-megabyte SIMS to 4-megabyte SIMS, now having 32-megabytes total RAM), the problem didn't go away. We just installed OpenWindows, and it exhibits the same behavior (runs fine, until you exit OpenWindows). Anyone know what the problem is, or how to fix it? I can't find anything pertinent in the various sun-fixes depts on the net. Jon Elion jle@cfm.brown.edu P.S. The latest message log (from an OpenWindows exit bomb) reads as follows: BAD TRAP pid 1215, `csh': Data fault kernel read fault at addr=0xffd0e000, pme=0xff07fb84 Bus Error Reg 20 pc=0xffe82790, sp=0xf8112c68, psr=0x119001c4, context=0x1 g1-g7: ffe8642c, f813d000, ff1e7a30, ff1e83e0, f825f000, f8136800, f8136400 Begin traceback... sp = f8112c68 Called from ffe96f74, fp=f8112cc0, args=ffd0e000 fffffb84 1000 1 ff002e80 f816f158 Called from ffe96f40, fp=f8112d20, args=c ff 18911 ffd0e000 ffd0f000 10000000 Called from ffe85d30, fp=f8112d60, args=0 0 18911 324 ffd18010 10000000 Called from ffe85a24, fp=f8112da0, args=12 12 ffeff400 12 ffd18000 40 Called from ffe86c3c, fp=f8112e00, args=21 0 0 0 1 ffd0401f Called from f80c2ea4, fp=f8112e80, args=f814c5d3 2 ffefefec ffefefe8 0 73 Called from f8031b74, fp=f8112ee0, args=ff140004 0 f814c5d5 7cb 0 5 Called from f8031a14, fp=f8112f40, args=114000c6 f80c2d80 0 0 114001e4 f816f158 Called from f8006e3c, fp=f8112fa0, args=f80b7f68 114000c6 1000 1 ff002e80 f816f158 Called from f80ef680, fp=f825e820, args=0 200 8f6a4 34000 200 ff004400 End traceback... panic: Data fault syncing file systems...
