I am the Zenith student sale rep for UAA and since Zenith MS-DOS 3.3+, The 
command to turn on the modem is "Machine Modem ON".  To get the version you 
are using type "VER".  If it is ver 3.3 or 4.0, enter the command "Machine ?".
This will return all machine commands.  If a modem is not installed it will not 
return "Machine MODEM [on][off]".  The Machine command also works on desktops 
to control the speed.  

This is my first posting to this group but I have bein reading for about six
months.  I try to read msgs at least once a week.
