I am interested in developing some applications for windows, but I am a little
put off by the $300+ price tag just to get the development tools. I already have
MS C v6. I am a former Mac programmer ... with the Mac, all of the C compilers
had the toolbox interface as part of the package. 

What is MS providing in the SDK package that makes it worth $300?

It seems to me that if you want lots of software development, then you price
the tools low to allow the widest possible availability!
