I received the Apollo distribution tape from the local (Austin,TX) HP office. I was told that I could simply load it and execute it, but it didn't work. I have the folowing problems: 1. Immediately upon logging on, the message (CMDF) /user_data/startup_dm.1280bw - name not found from ( stream manager/IOS ) I was told that this is sort of like a startup script such as .login or .cshrc; does it set any terminal-related variables? If it does, that may explain problem #2. 2. when I try to execute emacs, I receive the following set of messages/errors: Start of data space has moved from 63e00 to 0; running bare Emacs... emacs: cannot open termcap data base file I am able to examine the /etc/termcap file; it has permissions 644. My term variable is set to "apollo_1280_bw", and there is an entry in the /etc/termcap file for that particular terminal. Does anyone have any idea of what to try next? Please respond via email since I don't have regular access to news postings. Thanks for your time and the help.
