        I am the chair of the student ACM SIGGRAPH at the University of
Illinois.  Our group is a SIG of the student UIUC ACM, but is not (yet)
associated with the national SIGGRAPH.  I would like to register or
otherwise affiliate our student group with the (inter)national SIGGRAPH
so that we might receive the journals and announcements sent to members,
as well as tapes of the Film and Video Show.  As a student organization,
we would also be interested in receiving information about attending the
annual convention as student volunteers.
        I have seen announcements of meetings of local SIGGRAPH chapters
across the country, but I've never seen mention of other student
chapters.  Does SIGGRAPH support student chapters?  If not, I would like
to help them start.  If there _are_ other student chapters, I would be
interested to hear from them and hear about their activities.
        One of the primary activities of the U of I ACM SIGs is to
create a project for our Engineering Open House.  This year, we will be
doing a joint project with the student IEEE to build a parallel-
processing ray-tracing computer.  Our only bottle-neck, right now, is
funding.  I have seen from tapes of the Film and Video Show that
SIGGRAPH has assisted in the funding of such projects in the past.  Who
might I contact for more information on requesting grants from SIGGRAPH?
        Thanks for any assistance anyone might be able to extend to our
group.  Other student SIGs?  SIGGRAPH execs?

		We'd like to join the world.
