I need information about registering a UUCP site in the .US domain.
Is there a registration authority?  Any fees (initial or ongoing)?
Can I just post a map and go? How is it that there are several
hostname.dayton.oh.us domains, but no dayton.oh.us domain?  This seems 
very different than what I'm used to.

We would like to establish an email connection to our customers and/or
suppliers.  They have their own machines.  We would like to be good
citizens and encourage these sites to register; we would also like to be
nice to our customers/suppliers and provide them with information about
how to go about doing it.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any information through
sending email to addresses discovered in the maps files, and must
resort to bothering everyone with what is undoubtedly an FAQ.
