Metaphor? Message-ID: <36553@cup.portal.com> Date: 5 Dec 90 02:24:01 GMT Distribution: na Organization: The Portal System (TM) Lines: 34 At work, weve recently come across a rather sporty system, but weve no idea what it is! (Ill be describing the peices that Ive seen, however, there are more peices that I havent seen...) Two of the peices are marked Metaphor, and are configured as thus: One desktop unit, has a 5.25" floppy drive (a diskette is in the drive labeled 'installation'), what looks to be 1.0mb RAM, two 8MHz 68000 processors, and a bunch of ports. My guess is that this is some kind of server. Another unit is a real spiffy tower case design (about 1.5 feet high, and two or three inches in width!). This unit is diskless, has a 10MHz 68000 processor, what looks to be 2.0 or 4.0mb RAM, a sporty looking monitor, and a keyboard reminiscent of the Macs early keyboards. This unit has a few ports on it also. And a logical guess is that this is a workstation!! Now, what on earth is this thing? (outside of the obvious:-) a real neato some-kinda-networked workstation system) Oh, in the server box, is a 60pin header, which could possibly be for some sorta SCSI drive... We also have a laser printer that goes with this whole setup. It also is marked Metaphor, but also has the Apple seal on it. Now, someone please help me! The dates are rather old (84-86), and it might be of some use to us (or someone!) if we can get some HARD info on it!!
