The Toolkits provide a comprehensive development environment which includes a morphology rule generator, a parsing or translation engine, a semantic network utility, and a lexicon building and maintenance utility. The formalism and tools are based on Lexical-Functional Grammar and are language-independent: modifiable control tables and parameters allow quick prototyping and development of systems for new languages. The Toolkits have already been used to develop English-Chinese, English-Korean, Korean-English and English-Japanese translation systems, English-French and French- -English prototypes, and prototype German and Spanish grammars. The ECS English Grammar and Lexicon are also available: the grammar consists of a mature set of English analysis rules, while the lexicon contains 15,000 fully flagged English words. Chinese and Korean lexica are also available. Grammars and lexica for other languages are forthcoming. Educational discounts are available.
