Right-o!  This is what Sentinel, from John Eidsvoog, is for.  It 
checks during writes to see if there's space left; if not, it puts a 
dialog box up.  It was written specifically for ARC 6.02 and another 
program whose name slips my mind at the moment, which doesn't check 
for full drives.

Looks like another program I'll be sending to atari.archive.  Look 
for it in a couple of days.
