One day, I found out that it couldn't read any of my disks except for a couple. So, I downloaded some utilities to my hard drive and did some tests using disktbox. First, I would put a disk into the drive and double-click on the drive A icon. this would get me a dialog box saying that the drive isn't accessible. then, I would use disktbox and read the boot sector of the disk, and it would read fine, then I exited and double-clicked on the drive icon, and I would be able to get a directory of the drive and the files on it were ok! However, running a scan a few times on the disk would display bad sectors inconsistently. So, I ran a drive speed program to see what the speed of the drive is. It was something like 304.56rpm. As I recall, the speed should be around 300rpm. Could this be my problem? If the only solution is to replace the drive, I would like to find out which drive mechanisms work the best, and where to get them. Are there any other solutions? Please email to me, and I will summarize if there is any interest. Thanks, Maurice * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** BITNET : MCLI_SS@UORDBV \/ UUCP : ...rochester!uhura!mcli >--< ====================== Internet: mcli@joker.optics.rochester.edu /\
