Summary: Are these good machines/companies? Keywords: Swan, Zeos, cost Message-ID: <5038@tahoe.unr.edu> Date: 1 Dec 90 06:44:08 GMT Reply-To: jaw@tahoe.unr.edu (James A Wilson) Organization: University of Nevada - Reno Lines: 19 To Whomever can help: I am looking for an affordible IBM clone. I know I need a 386 machine, but wonder if I will need a math-coprocessor. I will be programming with it, and doing everything else that relates to Comp. Sci.. I am looking at something with at least 60Mb Fixed Disk Drive, an internal modem, a good quality printer (DeskJet, perhaps), VGA monitor, processing at 25 or 33 Mhz. I have seen a SWAN computer advertised for under $3000 for a machine a bit better than what I have described. But, I know virtually nothing about SWAN Tech. Also, I have seen a comparable Zeos system for a bit more. I would like anyone and everyone who has had experience with these or other mail order computer companies to POST. Also, I would like to know how much speed the Math C-Ps speed up a normal 386 machine with everyday applications. So, Hearty Thanks to all who post! Jim Wilson "I have nothing to say" --Ian Anderson
