It seems that Norton Utilities does not get along with the formatting software from MacLand (called "Smart Format"). I tried using NU on this drive, and it made the drive absolutely unrecoverable. I contacted MacLand, and they then told me of the incompatibility. Of course by this time, it was too late. After reformatting the drive and talking w/the people at MacLand, I also found out that the people who wrote their driver software also write drivers for "many other companies." I have tested NU on drives formatted w/Apple's Driver, Alliance Power Tools, and SilverLining. It appears to work beautifully on all of them. So, I have only mixed reviews.
