SUM did not even detect this! However, there was more trouble lurking there! according to DiskExpress Support, DE found that two files thought they owned the same blocks (something fsck finds nicely in UNIX). the only solution seemed to be to reinitialize the FS and copy the data back. I don't know which files were corrupted, though. The second condition I had made me see how weak SUM's approach of saving the file system directory is - I had corruption creep in to the directory of one of my FSs, and SUM faithfully copied the bad data! when I couldn't reboot because of the corruption, copying the saved version didn't help since the duplicate was faulty too! with all the competition for utilities out there, is someone better?
