The scroll that was with the candle is important, though. I can't remember if this is the 'extinguish' spell, but if it is, keep it memorised in case you suddenly need to put out a fire. > after summoning the adventurer what does he want Ask not what the adventurer wants, he wants every treasure you've got. He'll follow you around if you're carrying treasure, occasionally asking for a free gift. Be firm. Instead, ask what the adventurer can do for you. YOU summoned HIM, remember. See next question. > how do I open the map room door without using "dispel magic" > (one shot) The map room is behind an impossibly well-guarded door. The key word here is "impossibly". You're looking at an illusion of a guarded door, and the illusion is not necessarily visible to everyone. You're right about the "dispel magic" spell, it's too precious and dangerous to use casually. Use it to dispel a different illusion, a different impossibility. > who do I turn into an frog Firstly, someone who might be about to nick something you want, secondly... it's a good idea to keep this spell memorised in case of attack. > This info or hints would be much appreciated That's all right. By the way, another Infocom game - Zork 2 - Someone posted recently asking for a list of treasures, I too came up one short. Subtle cheating told me there was a stack of Zorkmid bills in the bank of Zork, but I can't for the life of me get at it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Malcolm Wood, Faculty of Commerce and Economics, University of Queensland wood@covax.commerce.uq.oz.au -------------------------------------------------------------------------
