I've recently seen SE/30's for sale in misc.forsale.computers for $1500.  I
just looked up a mail order price for a brand new internal Quantum 210 Meg
drive... it was $870.  That comes to $2370.  RAM isn't too expensive anymore...

Is your price of $3995 a misprint?
