You *can* use the show command on 01.03.00, if you use the "mcs -d" command on it first. The mcs command will delete the comment section which stops show working under 01.03.00. I use it and have not found it to cause any problems. This in fact is what you do with most commands from 02.xx.xx which you want to use on a 01.03.00 system. I successfully use the HDB cu for example, also with no problems.
