I believe that gatewaying bitnet listserver lists is a locally decided and implemented feature. At least that is how it is done here. Though I've never looked at exactly how this is done, I can't see where it could be very hard to do. I guess an ideal solution would be to have one system gateway traffic back and forth between netnews and the listserver. However, does everyone on the listserver WANT to see all the traffic from the newsgroup? Maybe.
