In this connection it would be useful to have a frequency analysis of the recorded signal. Has anyone written code which will transform the recorded audio signal into a (time-dependent) frequency distribution? Ideally, the program would display an image which has time on one axis, frequency on the other and the darkness of the image at a point depends on the intensity of the specified frequency at the specified time (plots like this are produced by some hardware frequency analyzers). I am not looking for real-time conversion, something which would read the stored audio data from a period of recording would be great. mike slattery mikes@sylow.mscs.mu.edu marquette university, milwaukee wi 53233
