It may be a corrupted entry in there which does not complete the bindings, leaving you with one in progress. If this fixes it, than try re-creating the file, one line at a time, till the problem recurs. When there is an error in the .joverc file, and you get far enough for it to recognize commands, the error messages are collected in one of the windows. Once you get it going, (and get used to it), you'll find jove to be a great editor. I use it on 7 Unix systems and MS-DOS, as well.
