What IS a "real" UNIX? Minus the security > SCO UNIX 3.2v2.0 seems pretty damn 3.2 to me ... Oh, I quite agree. SCO "UNIX", minus C2, would be real Unix. Unfortunately, that's not a product SCO sells. I agree with Sean Fagan that SCO's system administration tools are fairly easy to use. However, they are only required because of C2, a "feature" that we don't want. Administration tools are useful on any UNIX system, true; but they are *required* under SCO "UNIX" because the C2 security requires that lots of auxiliary files be munged in coordination with chnages to /etc/passwd, /etc/group, etc. To put the matter succinctly (if somewhat too kindly), I will repeat about SCO "UNIX" what someone else said about APL: SCO C2 "UNIX" is a mistake carried through to perfection. -- Chip Salzenberg at Teltronics/TCT , "I'm really sorry I feel this need to insult some people..." -- John F.
