Subject: Omti ESDI controllers and UNIX, any good?

Well, the subject line says it all, do Omti ESDI controllers work
under Interactive or any other Unixes. I have bought a cheap 
Maxtor XT4175 and want to use the thing under DOS and Unix.
Is there somebody out there who knows what the jumpers on the drive do.
I have figured out the DS (drive select) jumpers (big deal) but what 
do the other jumpers do?
