What is it about HIV that provokes this need for assurances? The best epidemiologic evidence suggests that HIV is transmitted by vaginal and rectal intercourse without condoms (or when condoms break--most often because an improper lubricant was used), by sharing contaminated hypodermic equipment, by shared circulation between mother and gestating fetus, and by birth canal trauma during delivery. If there are other routes of infection, they are rare. The bottom line is that HIV is transmitted by inoculation with blood or ejaculate. ---------------------- Replied Message Body ---------------------- Date: 12-2-90 7:16am From: {aids@cs.ucla.edu}:unix:niaid To: bill barrick:10:niaid Subj: (2775) a question Also-to: multiple recipients of list aids -------------------------------------------------------------------- >From: Luca.Ciastellardi@p8.f307.n331.z2.fidonet.org (Luca Ciastellardi) Newsgroups: sci.med.aids Approved: ddodell@stjhmc.fidonet.org (David Dodell) Subject: a question Sender: ufgate@stjhmc.fidonet.org (newsout1.26) Date: 2 Dec 90 00:49:19 GMT Organization: FidoNet node 2:331/307.8 - TeleSiBioc, Milano MI Italy Note: Copyright 1990 by Daniel R.
