Whoops!  When I saw the original post, I thought it was likely that
the cable itself was to blame, but Dave's theory is the more likely
one.  But by the same token, it's also worth checking the DB25 end
of the cable.  If the cable uses those itty-bitty slot screws, very
likely the cable's not properly secured -- somebody was lazy, had
misplaced the little screwdriver, or just too clumsy to do it right
(yo!).
