Well, I haven't tried this, but I see two scenarios (using HAM-E): 1: You are using the 262144 color HAM mode: In this case you're out of luck with DPaint because the color of a pixel depends of its neighbours. So moving a brush in this mode will at least give strange "fringes" at the edge of the brush. So here you're right. 2: You are using the 256 colors from 2^24 color-pallette mode: This should work fine if the color table for the brush and the color table for the picture is the same. (The same rule applies to normal IFF pictures in DPaint). I'm not sure that 'hame' (the 24 bit to HAM-E converter from Black-Belt) supports 'locking' of the color table between pictures, but as the source code is available, it should be possible to make this change.
