Place carriage returns in your postings about every 70 characters or so; some newsreaders don't wrap lines. Try continuing to press the 9 key; I get a display with a number of vertical lines of varying intensity. After a five more presses of the 9 key (after each keypress, the vertical lines move), the screen goes blank. Pressing ON at that point will wake the calculator up after about a second.
