Under normal circumstances, this would be easy, but in our case, we don't want the user selecting the line number digits when s/he highlights a line by triple clicking with the mouse... So I have thought of two possible solutions, each of which have their own set of questions: 1) Build a panel to the left of the source text display that scrolls as the text display scrolls. (or in a transparent window over the text display) -How do I "attach" the two panes so that the line number pane scrolls then the user scrolls the source display pane? -How can I make a pane to display the line numbers without borders, so that it will look like it is really inside the source display pane? -Can I make a scrollable pane for the line numbers without it having a scrollbar? 2) Add the line number digits to the text display. -How do I keep users from highlighting the digits when they triple click the select key on the mouse? (thus highlighting a whole line) Can I set "selection margins?" ___________________________________________________________ indi (Cathy Young) Supercomputer Systems, Inc uunet!ssi!young 2021 Las Positas Court, Suite 101 (415)373-8044 Livermore, CA 94550 Just spotted on the back of a van: It will be a great day when our schools have all the money they need and the air force has to hold a bake sale to buy a new bomber.
