There's clearly a need for blind folks to organize around issues of importance to the class. While I think it not appropriate for me as a public manager to be involved with an organization as a member, I was very active in the ACB and was one of the founding fathers of the Massachusetts affiliate.. If the issue were the existence of organizations to simply address social needs, then I would agree that they would be only one option within many for those purposes.
