One of our members was diagnosed as having epilepsy on the basis EEGs. Then one day she decided not to eat breakfast before going for the EEG. The EEG was normal. (This was after several years of taking drugs that are now knoon to reduce menatl abilities over time.) She discovered she was sensitive to oone of the foods she regularly ate for breakfast, and that it was affecting her EEG.
