    My sysop came to me with a problem I am trying to help him solve.  We
    want to install emacstool on the math department's network of sun
    3/50s and we can't get emacs to interact with the mouse.  Emacstool
    compiles fine, but doesn't work fine.

You are probably missing "#define HAVE_SUN_WINDOWS" in your ./src/config.h.
See ./etc/SUN-SUPPORT for more info.
