Help? Keywords: midi mpu401 roland Message-ID: Date: 14 Dec 90 03:41:39 GMT Sender: news@news.iastate.edu (USENET News System) Organization: Iowa State University, Ames IA Lines: 34 Hi, i have a blazing question: How does one program the mpu401 to send/receive stuff (on the ibm)? All that I know is that is uses address 0x330 (I think... it might be decimal) Could someone post/mail samples of code to initialize, send a byte, recv a byte and shut down? I dont need interrupt drivers... I am perfectly willing to constantly sit at the port... besides right now all i want to do is send stuff. Also, does the GETIT30 package (avail. from 128.252.135.4 /mirrors/msdos/music ) hang on anyone else's setup? Because the midiboard is working perfectly ok with Ultima VI, but it dies (at random times) when I try to use GETIT30. Is this a IRQ conflict? Its set on 2 on the board, and as far as I know, nothing else uses this IRQ setting. On the byline, what is "STANDARD MIDI MUSIC FILES"? Is there a standard for saving music? If so, where can I get the docs? I would like my sequencing program to be standard if possible. Thank you for listening....
