Keywords: MINIX, HardDisk Message-ID: <2E3LKOR@neon.in-berlin.de> Date: 8 Dec 90 10:48:20 GMT Distribution: comp Organization: Neon Research Caboose, Berlin Lines: 25 HI ! I have a very strange problem about installing MINIX V1.5 for IBM/PC on a RLL Hard Disk ... I have a BULL 95 MB HD with 1024 Tracks and 7 Heads ... also 26 Sectors per Track (RLL) ... When installing MINIX, I started FDISK with -s26 -h7, and THAT works, but if I install a filesystem on a MINIX partition, MKFS say: Partition to big for minor device. ... I looked it up via Nortons NU, and I found, that MINIX only uses side 0 upto 3 and not all 7 heads of the drive. Also only 17 sectors instead of 26 where used. So, by giving SIZE/2 to MKFS, the file-sys is surely too big for that partiton, cause only 4 heads, 17 sectors are used ... I destroyed other partotions by that, not very funny ... WHO CAN HELP ME WITH THAT PROBLEM, have I made something wrong ?! Thanx in advance ...
