Keywords: tops_comm Message-ID: <1990Dec12.093814.26788@canon.co.uk> Date: 12 Dec 90 09:38:14 GMT Organization: Canon Research Europe, Guildford, UK Lines: 36 We're having a problem with a QMS-PS 410 connected via localtalk and a FastPath 4 to a Sun. Using TOPS stuff on the Sun we have been printing to a LaserWriter II NT sucessfully for over a year. Recently, we added the QMS, but we are experiencing intermittent faults. TOPS replaces Transcript's pscomm with tops_comm to talk across the FastPath, and it seems to be this which is finding the problem. On the Laserwriter we get log entries like this: TOPS SUNix Network Print Utility Version 0.90.0 11/9/87 Copyright (C) Sun Microsystems, Inc. 1987. tops_comm: PAPOpen completed. tops_comm: Laser Writer status: tops_comm: printing completed. tops_comm: returning 0 And on the QMS, entries like this: TOPS SUNix Network Print Utility Version 0.90.0 11/9/87 Copyright (C) Sun Microsystems, Inc. 1987. tops_comm: papWpeer returned: -3107 tops_comm: Error -1 on completion of PAPOpen tops_comm: papWpeer returned: -3107 tops_comm: Error -1 on completion of PAPOpen tops_comm: papWpeer returned: -3107 tops_comm: Error -1 on completion of PAPOpen ... Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Can anyone from Sun (or is it Sitka) shed any light? ------------- David Lau-Kee, Canon Research Centre Europe, 17/20 Frederick Sanger Rd, Surrey Research Park, Guildford, Surrey, GU25YD, UK. laukee@canon.co.uk, laukee@canon.uucp, ..!mcsun!ukc!uos-ee!canon!laukee Tel: +44 (0) 483 574325 Fax: +44 (0) 483 574360
