The American National Standards Institute has recently begun to
offer the long-awaited registration service.  Some details are
provided below.

	- Currently registering numeric form of organization name
	  only (registration of alphanumeric form is expected to
	  begin in Q1 91),

	- Fee for numeric name is $1,000,

	- Assignment of name will be made within 10 working days
	  of receipt by ANSI of completed application (including
	  the fee),

	- Pending queue of requests (about 800) will be asked to
	  reapply under the defined procedures,
