You could get somone that works on SYSV, and take them to BSD, and they'd probably say the same thing. When I started working on PCs a year or so ago, I had to use Brief (editor) until they could get a copy of MKS VI in. I felt like my hands were tied in brief. Them getting VI for me improved my productivity immensely. Why? Breif isn't inherantly inferrior to VI (people I work with will argue the opposite quite strongly).
