Yes, there is, use 'prf -user USER_NAME'. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was aware of the -user option of the PRF command. My question was in reference to hooking the USER NAME in the /etc/printcap file because by default the LPD passes a user name of DAEMON. That was the whole purpose of our having to write a filter to prepend a banner page before sending to the apollo print server via pc: in printcap (with -banner off -trans). If we could somehow get the remote user name directly substituted, then we wouldn't need a filter.
