Before carrying this any further, go LOOK at a member of the "Blit" family of dot-mapped display terminals running in "layers" mode, e.g. AT&T Teletype model 5620 or 630, then ask yourself if such performance would meet your wishes for an Apple IIGS multitasking environment. These are true multitasking computers WITHOUT timer- interrupt scheduling. I am intimately familiar with their design, and assure you that an Apple IIGS has all the necessary hardware to support such an operating environment.
