The cable tv system was feeding back signals through my computer-through the modem- and to the phone line. It was a long process of taking the modem apart, taking the computer apart, and tracing the problem down to the back of my television. Something to consider. I guess the ATARI switch boxes are only SPDT. If they were DPDT then the intereference from the cable line would not get through.
