    I have heard reports that HP is funding some academic institution in
    Utah to port true BSD to the 400 line.  Jay, could this perhaps be your
    institution?

I believe the university you're referring to is U of Utah, not BYU.  U of
Utah ported 4.3 BSD to the Series 300.  I don't know if there are plans to
port to the 400s.
