I've got v1.5 SB software. 10to1 says this is what happened: The store the SB was bought from demoed the unit, and the demo machine had the virus. The store may or may not have re-shrinkwrapped the SB box. I've heard of this happening a few times with Amiga software (back when I was an Amiga user.) I'd go back to that store with Scan v71 in hand and check their machines out.
