Get hold of a DAK mail order catalog.  DAK is offering what seems to be
a great CD-ROM buy.  For about $600 (maybe $699) you get an external
CD-ROM drive plus several CD-ROMs (encyclopedia, etc.) that DAK claims
sells for some $2400.  I've had good luck with DAK.
