There are some REAL exciting boxes hitting the market now for under $2K.

TI/Sharp with a 4.4lb machine with paper-white VGA and 20MB hard disk.
ZEOS with a slightly heavier box but same basic characteristics.

I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones whose ads I've seen in 
just the last week.
