Keywords: BOSS B.O.S.S. link Message-ID: <9528@ncar.ucar.edu> Date: 13 Dec 90 15:37:09 GMT Sender: news@ncar.ucar.edu Reply-To: sitongia@hao.ucar.EDU (Leonard Sitongia) Organization: "High Altitude Observatory / NCAR" Lines: 25 I've looked at the Casio BOSS PC and Mac Link hardware/software packages and it looks like the cables are identical, to a point. From the Casio plug both go to a DB-25. Then, each package has a different adapter, with the PC version including an adapter to DB-9, and the Mac package including an adapter to the DIN and DB-something. I would like to know if the TTL to RS-232 signal converting chip (there must be one in the cable somewhere, right?) is in the Casio-to-DB-25 section (which it appears to be for the PC version because the DB-25-to-DB-9 adapter looks like the standard variety). Then that part of the hardware is the same for both packages. The reason why I'm asking is because I would like to buy the Mac version if I can use the Casio-to-DB-25 part in interface to "standard" DB-25s, such as for my Amiga and Sun Sparcstations, then I could still get to Macs. I seems like the Mac package affords the most hardware compatibility. Thank you for your time. -Leonard E. Sitongia System Manager (303) 497-1509 USPS Mail: High Altitude Observatory P.O.
