  I too sent email to Bill Cramer, and got the fixed version of TheNews (v 1.1)
within a couple of hours. It works great on our configuration (IIcx -> Gatorbox
-> campus news server). I am posting this article from TheNews.  
   Bill said he will release the new version in a week or so.
