As it happens, there is a *very* good book out, called the NeXT Bible, that covers everything a somewhat naive user would need to know. It got me going on my first date with the Cube, and even introduced me to a bit of programming. It also covers general, non-NeXT-specific stuff about the history of UNIX, networking, etc. I recommend it!
