It is easy to "exit" to command line in Novell menu. Just run command.com
from it like this:

7. Command line
 COMMAND
...

I have use this method in many Novell networks without problems. The only
thing to remember is that if you run logout from the new command line, 
extraneous network drives are left in your PATH variable.
