I want to change the separation between list elements in an itemize
environment in LaTex, but I don't know how.  I have tried:

\begin{itemize}{\itemsep 2in}
  ...
\end{itemize}

This doesn't change the separation distance at all.  I would
appreciate any advice on how to do this.
