I created mf and cmmf using the U_wash.mf files to create the mf.base and cmmf.base. Everything seemed to go smoothly although I notice that my host an Encore multimax, was not one of those listed as passing the trap test. I don't think this is the problem, however. I installed Rokicki's MaKeTeXPK script, and (afterI relatexed a document using the new mainz font selection scheme, dvips 5.4 required a new pk font. Specifically, cmr12 at magstep 1. It failed, so that when I tried it by hand ie mf '\mode:=localfont;mag:=magstep(1.0);' input cmr12 where localfont was CanonCX as per our apple laserwriter, I end up (after the thing drawing all the letters for me (under X)) a file cmr12.3122gf which somehow isn't what I wanted. I suspect a silly error. Anyone have a clue what to look for? Thanks in advance. -- ``A College degree is a right; not a privilege"
