I'm having trouble using xv_set() to deselect a row in a PANEL LIST.

In the notify procedure that gets called for List I have

    xv_set( List, PANEL_LIST_SELECT, (int)(client_data) - 1, FALSE, NULL);

Where the client_data assigned to each row is "1" for row 0, "2" for row 1, 
etc.

This isn't working. What am I doing wrong?
